According to the U.S. Coast Guard, all five crewmembers aboard the Ocean Gate Titan Submarine are presumed deceased due to debris found in the search area indicating a “catastrophic implosion,” as reported by them.
Wreckage from the Titanic had been discovered near its bow after it sunk, approximately 25 yards from where she had vanished into the depths.
The Titan, after departing on its journey to search for Titanic wreckage, went missing last Sunday. Search efforts have focused around an area where Canadian planes heard “underwater noises” Tuesday and again yesterday.
Officials from the U.S. Coast Guard believed that five people on board may run out of air around 7:10 am ET today and had not identified its location as they conducted their search efforts.
